A trip to the Brdo hills

Trip no. 1.
A meeting with the local guide with guests at villa AlmaVista in Vipože.
Together we pass the villages Cegno, Medana and Dobrovo, to Višnjevik, the home of the golden rebula wine. We walk to the village of Gradno, where we visit the church of St. George, see the stations of the cross by the world-famous painter Zoran Mušič and frescoes by Lojze Spacal. On the way back, we will visit the oldest olive tree plantation in the Brdo hills and sample different olive oils.
We continue through Krasna to Gonjače, where we will visit the observation tower. From here, a beautiful view of the whole Brdo hills and the surrounding area opens up. We will pass the vineyards on foot and visit a village from the Middle Ages, Šmartno. We will walk through the narrow streets and visit the mighty St. Martin church, after who the village was named. We will also visit the ethnographical museum The Brdo House (Briška hiša) and The House of Culture (Hiša culture). Next, we will visit a winery and wine tasting with a snack. The trip last for approximately 3 hours.

Price: € 36,00 per person, including VAT. The price includes all entry fees according to the program, olive oil sampling, and wine tasting with a snack, guide and trip organization.


Trip no. 2.
A meeting with the local guide with guest at villa AlmaVista in Vipože.
We will head towards Dobrova and visit the Renaissance castle. We will pass the vineyards on foot and head towards the largest wine cellar in Slovenia. Guided tour with a glass of wine. We will continue toward the village of Šmartno. We will walk through the narrow streets and visit the mighty St. Martin church, after who the village was named. We will also visit the ethnographical museum The Brdo House (Briška hiša) and The House of Culture (Hiša culture). This is followed by lunch on a tourist farm. The trip last for approximately 4 hours, including lunch.

Price: € 54,00 per person, including VAT. The price includes all entry fees according to the program, tour of the wine cellar and a glass of wine, guide and trip organization.


Trip no. 3.
A meeting with the local guide with guests at villa AlmaVista in Vipože.
We will head past Ceroveg and drive to Kojsko along the former border with Italy. A branch pilgrimage church Sv. Križ na Taboru is reigning over the village, which houses an exceptional artistic pearl - the most beautiful late-Gothic three winged altar in Slovenia. Chapels along the Stations of the Cross lead towards the church. This is followed by a visit to the observation tower in Gonjače, where you will be able to enjoy a magnificent view of the whole Brdo area. We will pass the vineyards on foot and visit a village from the Middle Ages, Šmartno. We will walk through the narrow streets and visit the mighty St. Martin church, after who the village was named. We will also visit the ethnographical museum The Brdo House (Briška hiša) and The House of Culture (Hiša culture). Wine tasting with a snack will be held on the cellar of the Brdo House. The trip last for approximately 4 hours.

Trip no. 4.
A meeting with the local guide with guests at villa AlmaVista in Vipože.
We will cross the former border crossing with Italy and head towards Krmin, where we will hike up the Krminska gora hill. This hill offers a spectacular view over the Slovenian Brdo hills, the Alps, Vipava Valley and Friuli. Then we will travel along the Italian side towards the Slovenian Brdo hills and village Breg near Golo brdo. This is where we will visit a gallery by a famous ceramist from Brdo, Ivan Skubin. This is followed by lunch at the Breg Tourist farm, where you will be served with Brdo-Friuli season dishes. After lunch we will travel to remarkably picturesque river channels of the Krčnik river. The water formed a natural bridge, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful natural bridges in Slovenia. We will walk along the Kožbanjšek stream valley to basins, where the water formed three pools that turn into popular bathing spots during the summer. For the end, we will visit a village from the Middle Ages, Šmartno. We will walk through the narrow streets and visit the mighty St. Martin church, after who the village was named. We will also visit the ethnographical museum The Brdo House (Briška hiša) and The House of Culture (Hiša culture). The trip last for approximately 6 hours.

Price: € 45,00 per person, including VAT. The price includes all entry fees according to the program, lunch, guide and trip organization.

The transportation is not included into the price and it amounts to € 20,00 per hour, including VAT.
